The Root of Wisdom

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction - Proverbs 1:7
Do you want to be wise? Do you want to know what to do when you don't know what to do? Then revere, acknowledge and trust God. The fear of The Lord is the starting point for knowing what to do because everything He says is good for teaching, reproving, correcting and for training in righteousness. Everything He says will aide and equip you for every good work. Nothing He says is void of power. He has made all things and in Him all things are held together by the word of His power. Everything He says comes to pass.
He has not left us to wonder what He has said or what He is like. He has inspired men from various backgrounds and socioeconomic status across millennia to record His words for us so that we may read them, give attention to them, hide them in our heart and live as He directs. Furthermore, He has given us His Son, The God-Man, Jesus Christ so that we may see Him and have an example to follow. Even more, He has given us His Spirit, who enables us to say no to sin and yes to righteousness, and who reveals to us the manifold wisdom of God in Christ.
We come to God confessing our sins and short comings and pleading for mercy and in His Word we find Grace to help in all our troubles and cause to rejoice in every trial and reason to rest because He is with us always, even unto the end of the age.
It is when we reject all that God has given that we walk in foolishness. In our refusal to acknowledge Him and trust Him we say we know better and declare ourselves to be our own god.
Be wise. Fear the Lord. Serve Him with gladness.
In Christ
